Lye is a chemical that is used in the process of making cold processed soap. It is a caustic substance, also known as sodium hydroxide, which is combined with oils or fats to undergo a chemical reaction called saponification. During saponification, lye reacts with the oils or fats to convert them into soap. However, in properly made cold processed soap (like ours), there is no lye left in the final product as it becomes neutralized in the process.

We use micas in our cold processed soap which are commonly considered to be naturally occurring minerals that are ground into a fine powder for use as colorants. Mica powders are known for adding shimmering and vibrant colors to our cold process soaps. We do not use any synthetic dyes in our products.
